I honestly haven't done anything but let him watch a dvd called potty time with bear...bear lives in a blue house...i know this because coop tells me all the time :) his first pass at it was a christmas conf when he walked right to the bathroom and told me he had to go. he was adamant that i keep him on the toilet and then he went. once he realized he would get an m&m everytime he went, he tried to just pee on the carpet and proceed to ask for one. that didn't work so we are back on the potty. i am just in awe. yesterday we were out running errands and at home and three different times he took me to the potty! what will he do next? maybe he'll get online when i'm not watching and order pull ups!

here i am

yeah to all of you who are 'bringing xanga back' with me :) i love it! it will inspire me to write more i hope. i'm pretty lazy when it comes to being on the computer. life is so fun and full of energy and time with little coop man that it's hard to sit down and do anything until after 7pm. the little man stopped napping at 19 months and so i've learned life without one...but still a little down time which is a sweet breath for me. so my day consists of playing, stacking blocks, making towers, drawing snowmen and little boys and consistently picking up. ha! coop will be turning 2 in march and i'm just amazed at how he already seems like a little boy! we just gave him his first haircut last weekend...he did great! and looks months older! here are some sweet pics of the little man.

these are before the haircut...he looks so cute with those curls! i'm slightly sad we cut it, maybe i'll secretly let it grow and scott will never know, you think?
Wednesday, January 30, 2008

I'm bringing Xanga back - drop a comment if you're with me!

here we are...

Wow! Bloggings can be really far between. It's been a month and a half and i meant to blog Sept. 18th...I turned 29 this year...yes, oldness is setting in. It was a great birthday and I decided overall to enjoy it and deal with 30 when it gets here. I just thought it would take a little longer than this.
As far as Bugs go, my little bug is going to be 8 months old this thursday. He's getting so big! Crawling everywhere, and pulling himself up on everything.

This is Cooper on his 7 month birthday.
I may have distorted the picture a little bit :) But I'll post updated pictures soon! We had trick or treat tonight and he was the cutest cuddliest lion I ever have seen! It was fun taking him to our neighbors and feeling like a kid again. He's been sick for the last week and a half and the doctor finally gave him some medicine...so it's been an interesting time for me, he hasn't been this needy or clingy yet...I love cuddling with him, but I think having him sick and not being able to do anything for him was emotionally draining...but he's slowly getting better and hopefully by this weekend will feel great! It's TOUGHCAT weekend! I'm so excited...(my bible study from college...we've gotten together - this will be the 5th year - since college and it's so refreshing! I love these women and how God has allowed us to be used in each other's lives life and love and truth and grace!
night.
Lessons from a baby

Cooper on our Labor Day weekend trip to the park.
It's been amazing lately to think of all the little things that I learn about life from my baby boy. One is that snot is God's all-natural hair gel for mankind. When Cooper wakes up after crying himself to sleep and his nose is a little runny, it's amazing what that runniness does for his hair.
Two nights ago we were having family time in the living room and Cooper - amazing baby as he is sitting up now!!! - likes to fall backwards...which makes us laugh really hard, and our entertainment center was right behind him so we were protecting him from hitting. I was saying how it's funny that he just goes along with life and has no idea how he is protected so much from danger by us. And then Scott said that it's so ironic because we have no idea how we are God is protecting us to from hurt. I love how having Cooper reminds me so much of God's love for me and how He is right there, even when we or Cooper doesn't know that Daddy or Mommy is right there.

Scott is at the Cruhouse right now and then...the weekend!!! I'm so looking forward to the Dueck's coming to stay with us before they venture off to Italy!! They were on our team in Detroit and are "our homies" as scott and steve would put it. Steve...cooper is looking forward to you reading him 'superman' comics when you come!

Ten more days until my birthday!!!! I think it will be wild to think that this is the last year I can celebrate in my 20's. I'm not sure what to think about it. But since I LOVE birthdays, I'll just celebrate anyways!!! Yeah for me! Oh, it was so fun to be at a movie theatre again...i think the last time we went was maybe 7 or 8 months ago. i was told to take the movies in before i had a baby because it would be so long until I went again...and it was. Then Saturday we broke our detox a day early and went to Panera with Lizzy and Royce. Panera only tasted that good after we got back from a summer in Turkey!!! Sunday Cooper couldn't go to church because of his runny nose and minor sinus infection so we decided to go to the park and ended up going to the Labor Day community picnic. It was fun to be with so many people and it was a fun environment! We even saw neighbors...it made us feel like we were starting to become a part of a community. how cool is that. Sunday night we went to the riverfront and saw the fireworks!! cooper didn't even flinch. i was just waiting for him to start crying because of the noise but this is the third time he's proved me wrong. he loves watching them in the sky! I probably missed 1/2 of them because i loved watching him be so in awe of the fireworks. It was a great weekend and now my 3 boys are sleeping (baxter our dog is included...i don't really have any other kiddies).

Coop is sitting up now!! and loves playing on his piano! The only way i can get him to smile for the camera is if i take a sly shot with him looking at something else.

We finished!!!

The dining room is now officially painted "sweet honey"...i love the names they come up for for paint...especially that one. i think i would have leaned towards the color based on the name alone . We worked on my house until we left for target at 10 to get some finishing touches...I'd say that my two favorite parts of this project were getting to hang out with Debbie for so long!!! and having my love come home and be super surprised !!! And to not stop at the dining room, but to show him his new "man floor" (in honor of steve dueck) too!

I know...i really shouldn't update on the paint jobs until i have pictures but i just couldn't wait.
So now, the next thing is the bedroom. I don't think i'll surprise Scott with that one though
We just got back from my first trip to Bravo, i was so excited that i thought we were there to celebrate my birthday for a minute. But my sweet hubby's birthday was yesterday...the big 28!!!! Holy my goodness!!!!!! He's amazing...he even brought me home roses during HIS birthweek...i should have brought him home roses :) hee hee...but i did surprise him with his man floor.
Well, my sweet baby is watching a video so i'm going to get ready for bed. I was supposed to be looking for stuff on Detox...anyone ever had that motivation to do it? Give me any ideas, motivation, info you can...i'm trying to get our staff team on board!!! Martha...I know you tried. I still have the email from it. i'm mostly sad about giving up my coffee for the week!
Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite. If they do, you know what to do, hit 'em with a shoe until they're black and blue.
All-nighters

It's 6:30 am and Debbie Dukes and I are still awake. Toledo has it's leadership overnight right now and we are at my house doing some surprise home makeovers!!! it's so fun!! So i'm assuming i'm safe with scott at the overnight that he won't read this. I guess i'm taking my chances. Pictures will come soon but we painted the living room, and the attic...i wanted to make it a guys floor for Bible study and a "retreat" place for our times with the Lord...and just to get away...the third floor is good for that...you can go up there and no one would even know.
okay, so time for our run to home depot.

We're Back!

We finally made it back to Toledo from our 4000 mile journeys this summer. Cooper did great but I think that now he has been dealing with carseat trauma! He's getting better. We had a great couple of weeks in Indy and Emerald Isle, NC with family. Cooper was able to spend time with grandparents and we loved getting to see family and having some time together by ourselves. I'm excited to download our summer pictures soon, so they'll be on their way.
We just finished up our first week with our new Toledo staff team! Scott and I had a great time with them! It feels like family already and is so fun to be able to work alongside friends of ours! The Elliots, our new staff family still raising support, were able to make it, and it was so encouraging to have our team together, even though for a few days and making it all the more exciting for when God raises their support and we can all be in Toledo together.
It seems wierd to be back at Toledo after being gone for two years. I know so much has changed and the students have cycled through. It's exciting to get a fresh start, but it's weird to think that students won't know me. I like that though. They can get to know us as a family now. I like that because I love my family!!!
I'm sure I'll write more soon but for now i'm exhausted. It's Saturday night, Scott is cleaning the mold out of our pantry, Cooper is sound asleep, Baxter is lounging downstairs and the sounds of an electronic ocean are peaceful! Meteor showers are tonight, but sleep is more important! Good night.
